This housing is integrally mounted on the rear of the probe. The Cap Point/511 always uses either a F.P.
The Cap Point/511 system consists of an electronic amplifier mounted in a cast aluminum explosion proof housing. This housing is integrally mounted on the rear of the probe. The Cap Point/511 always uses either a F.P. (guarded polypropylene) or GT (guarded Teflon¢ç) probe assembly (see below). Probes are manufactured in a variety of insulating materials and metals. The active length of the probe will vary subject to the specific application of the system. The probe may be mounted in a vertical or horizontal position. Normally, the probe is threaded into the process vessel with a 3¨ù4" connection. The probe is energized with a radio frequency signal (about 2 megahertz). When the process level changes, a change of capacitance occurs, resulting in a small change in frequency. This change is compared with preset values in the electronic measuring circuit. After proper amplification, this signal is used to provide a change of state condition which operates the relay.¡¡
The CAP POINT/511 is pre-calibrated to operate in any size vessel, provided the tank's physical dimensions are greater than one foot in diameter. Smaller vessels or probes installed in pipes must be dynamically calibrated, i.e. installed in process vessel and calibrated to your exact conditions. Installation with products that have dielectric constants of less than 1/5 should be dynamically calibrated. The pre-calibration permits application to the control of any product with a dielectric constant from 1.5 to 80.0 (light hydrocarbons, plastic pellets to water acids and slurries). A time delay is provided to eliminate the effects from turbulence.¡¡
The CAP POINT/511 utilizes a guarded probe that eliminates any shift in control point due to build up of product.
Primary areas of Applications
The CAP POINT/511 is an ideal solution for many level control problems. Most liquids are potential applications for the Cap Point/511 as are free flowing granular products.
Liquids-Organic Solvents: Eg: Ethylene, Methyl and Isopropyl Alcohol, as well as Toluene, Heptane, Turpentine, Acetone, etc.
Liquids-Conductive: Eg: Water, acids, diluted acids (within the limits of probe sensor gland housing and insulation materials), water with impurities
Liquids-Interface: Eg: Petroleum products and water (with calibration)
Bulk Solids: Eg: Cereal grains, plastic pellets and powders, sand, ores, crushed coal, coke and other free flowing granular products *Note: Resistance to corrosion is determined by insulating materials
Features
Versatile A single calibration permits the application on any product with a dielectric constant from 1.5 (light hydrocarbons, plastic pellets) to 80.0 (water, acids and slurries)
Fail Safe A simple field selection determines the High or Low FAIL-SAFE mode
Immune to Product Buildup A ¡°Guarded Probe¡± prevents any shift or loss of calibration due to build up of conductive or non-conductive materials
High Sensitivity - Sensitivity is .5 pfd or less. The Cap Point/511 system will reliably detect any product whose dielectric constant is 1.5 or higher without field calibration.
Rugged Totally solid state electronics mounted in an explosion proof cast aluminum housing
Immune to Static The probe input circuit is protected from static electrical discharges
RFI Immunity The circuit is immune to RFI
Power Supply The Cap Point/511 will operate with either 115 VAC, 230 VAC 50-60 Hz power source or 24 VDC
Versatile A field adjusted time delay is available to provide protection from turbulent level conditions
Shop Calibration The CAP POINT/511 system is designed to be installed without field calibration in most applications
