To take a reading, invert the tube, allowing the ball to enter the Teflon¢ç screw. Next, restore the tube to normal position. Finally, turn the knob to release the ball, and measure the time of descent with a stop watch. Reproducibility with good technique varies from 0.2 to 1.0%, depending upon time of descent. The ball-release device is sealed with a Viton¢ç O-ring. Other plastic parts are made of corrosion-resistant Delrin. The ball moves against a white background with easy-to-read red reference lines.
