Due to increasing environmental legislation world wide, industrial activities such as construction, demolition and land remediation now have a requirement to monitor local meteorological conditions. Once on site, the portable NOMAD monitoring station can be deployed and collecting data in less than 5 minutes. Disassembly is just as quick. It can be used to monitor, measure and record temperature, relative humidity, pressure, wind speed and direction, solar radiation and rainfall. Up to 4 additional sensors can be added to the system. A ¡°Sensor extension unit¡± attaches directly to the tripod. Additional sensors for soil temperature, leaf wetness, grass temperature plus specific devices such as SOX or NOX can be added to the standard unit. There are 3 system components: tripod assembly, data-logger in an IP67 enclosure (with solar panel and rechargeable battery), and a detachable sensor array. The NOMAD includes a barometric pressure sensor and a tipping bucket rain gauge.
Once assembled, the NOMAD automatically begins recording data. The NOMAD will record 149K data sets equating to over 3 months logging (at 1 minute intervals). There are several options for downloading the data: On-site with a laptop PC and/or direct line hook-up (1,500 ft. max. cable length); Remote using low power radios (transmission up to 3000 feet); and for Global collection, GSM or PSTN modems are supported. Alarm functions may be configured to alert operators using the SMS service on suitably equipped cell phones.
