It was developed for precise measurements of nonmagnetic coating on ferrous surfaces.

The result of the measurement is displayed in w mm or mils (1/1000 inch).

MG-401 is used for measurements of varnish layers, isolating coatings or determining thickness of plastic foil laid on steel.
