C-1700 Series ThermoFlow Thermometer |
Measure Temperature and Net Heat Flow Without Contact
The C-1700 Series ThermoFlow Thermometers are self-contained, battery-operated devices designed to measure heat loss ( or gain) through walls and windows without physical contact. The Model C-1700F displays temperature in degrees F and net heat flow in BTU/(sq.ft-hr). A metric version, Model C-1700C, measures temperature in degrees C and net heat flow in Watts/sq. meter. |
|
These portable, low cost, accurate instruments are a significant breakthrough in non-contact detection. Designed for insulation instaalue. Preventive maintenance is improved through early detection of defects in insulation of pipes, furnaces, walls, ducting and by locating hot spots in gears, bearings, electrical junction boxes, and heating/cooling coils.llers, inspectors, energy auditors and plant maintenance engineers, these instruments rapidly and accurately measure the critical perameters needed to determine R-Value or U-V |
Features
- Low cost, easy to use.
- Non-contact measurement of Heat Flow in BTU's or Watts and Temperature in °F or °C
- Net Heat Flow includes convective flow
- One second response time
- Powered by internal 9-volt battery

How the ThermoFlow Works:
The C-1700 Series has been designed to measure building materials such as paper, plaster, ceramic, stone, concrete or glass, that have emmisivities in excess of 90%. An accurate surface temperature reading is obtained by simply aiming the instrument at the surface to be measured. The diameter of the measured area is approximately 1/3 of the distance from the object.
Net Heat Flow Measurement:
Net Heat Flow is measured by switching the instrument to the heat flow position and aiming the product at the wall or surface which represents the internal temperature of the building The C-1700 is then "zeroed," using the zero adjust control. Net Heat Flow in BTU (or Watts) is then displayed when the instrument is aimed at an exterior wall or window.

Typical Applications
Energy Conservation:
Scanning insulation for voids, location of air infiltration, measuring furnace walls and ducting, locating faulty pipe insulation, R-Value (U-Value) estimation. |
Preventive Maintenance:
Location of overloaded electrical circuits, breakers, or fuses; steam trap evaluation, motor and bearing overheating. Moisture damage on roofs can also be detected. |
|
Accessories
C-WAND - Used to support the unit at present distance from the target. C-STAND - Mounts the handheld probe for stationary applications requiring continuous measurement. C-CASE - Vinyl carrying case with belt loop.
