The Model 415B
measures the hardness of metals in equivalent Rockwell B Scale over a
range of 40 to 100 HRB. This instrument is designed for use in machine
shops, laboratories; and by inspection and quality control personnel,
tool and die makers, mechanics, welders, metallurgists etc.
The force required to move the indenter through its full travel of 0.025
inch (0.64mm) is 85 pounds (38.55 kgf). The indenter has been ground to
an included angle of 30° and polished to a spherical radius of 0.012
inch. The impression made by the indenter in the metal being tested is a
very small hemisphere and is equivalent to a superficial examination in
size. The resistance of the metal sample surface to the indenter results
in the gauge pointer being moved a corresponding hardness reading.
The Model 415B Metal Hardness Tester comes complete with test block,
carrying case, and conversion calculator. |
