Patented microprocessor-based
digital transducer of outstanding accuracy and versatility.
Readings are RMS measured by a digital circuit ensuring maximum accuracy,
reliability and stability over time.
The automatic scale change for voltage and current ensures the highest
accuracy in the range 20 mA to 6 A and 20 Vac to 750 Vac.
Current and voltage autoranging also provides a dynamic range of 500
on power. while automatic amplifier offset correction prevents accuracy
drifting Vs. temperature and over time.
The unit measures:
U
RMS Voltage (Volt)
I
RMS Current (Amp)
P
Active Power (Walt)
P.F.
Power Factor (Cos¥Õ)
S
Apparent Power (Volt amp)
Q
Reactive Power (Volt amp reactive)
Pm
Average Active Power (sliding window)
Sm
Average Apparent Power (sliding window)
PMD
Maximum demand on Active Power (peak)
SMD
Maximum Demand on Apparent Power
EA
Active Energy Consumption
ER
Reactive Energy Consumption
F
Frequency
The average power values (demand) are calculated by
sliding window mathematics over a programmable integration period.
The values compare with the demand metered by the energy supply board.
Maximum demand readings are the highest
recorded averages and represent the peak value used by the energy supply
board billing. The readings may be synchronised with the main meter and
reset via computer.
Energy consumption is totalled on an internal 10-digit counter with 0.01
kWh to 99,999,999.99 kWh resolution. The counter may be reset via computer.
Readings are supplied as real values expressed in scientific notation (mantissa
+ exponent), which take into consideration any CT or VT ratios.
The unit may be programmed by external PC-run software (ELEX) via RS485
port.
User-programmable settings are handled by the unit internal 32-bit floating-point
mathematics ensuring maximum accuracy and best performance.
All set-up data, counter and maximum demand values are stored in a battery-free
EEPROM memory with virtually unlimited memory retention. The unit is suitable
for both single-phase and balanced three-phase systems and is particularly
suited for motor control applications. The RS485 data output and MODBUS
protocol make DEPT-485 the ideal choice for networking PLC or PC running
SCADA software.
A standard twisted pair provides reliable communication for up to 32 instruments
over a distance of 1000 m. without ampli-fication. The use of additional
line amplifi-ers allows further blocks of 32 units to be connected up to
a maximum of 247 instru-ments.
The transmission speed may be user set to 2400, 4800 or 9600 bps.
DEPT-485 is the ideal solution for process control, network monitoring,
energy and maximum demand cost-accounting and management applications. Microproces-
sor-based technology, the absence of
potentiometers and the use of high-stability components make DEPT-485
an extremely versatile instrument suitable for both building control
and industrial applications. Testing and Calibration are performed
using an automated digital calibration system.
Each instrument is delivered with a certificate of conformity and
calibration. All the inputs and outputs are galvanically isolated
to guarantee complete operation safely in any type of installation
and designed for highest immunity to external disturbance.
