| The IR-100 Gamma Ray Exposure Device can contain
120 curies of Iridium 192 with a rediation level of only 25 mR/HR at six
inches from the device surface. Unit weight is apporoximately 49 lbs. Construction
consists of all welded stainless steel with inert uranium shielding. Packaging
meets all US Nuclear Regulatory Commission specification for radiographic
exposure devices.
The IR-100 is operated by a crank mechanism which drives a control cable
to move the radiographic source through guide tubes to make an exposure.
The unit features a unique safety source lock that meets the latest industry
requirements. It serves as an extra check on correct operator procedures,
and helps prevent accidental exposure of the operator to radiation. Safety
features and specifications include:
● The lock cannot be accidentally locked while
the source is out of the exposure device.
● The key cannot be removed from the lock unless
the source is in the safe-locked position.
● The source remains locked even though the key
lock barrel is removed for cleaning purposes.
● The unique indicator plate verifies the safety
latched position and the "ready to operate" position.
● The pigtail cannot be pulled completely through
the lock on its return to the exposure device.
● The pigtail cannot be disconnected unless the
source is in the locked position.
● The locked pigtail connector can be rotated to
aid in connection to the control cable link.
● Source guide tubes are normally supplied with
thread configuration to ensure safe connections.
● Source guide tubes are available in two thread
configurations, both fine and course as well as snap coupling style.
● Drive assemblies are available with pistol grip
as standard equipment.
