Measurements You
Can Trust
With the 34970A, you get the benefit of proven performance, universal
inputs with built-in signal conditioning, and modular flexibilityóin
a compact data-acquisition package. Whether you need to measure
temperature, AC/DC volts, resistance, frequency or current, the 34970A
can handle it. The internal autoranging DMM eliminates the need for
expensive external signal conditioning. This unique design allows
complete per-channel configurability for maximum flexibility and quick,
easy set up. Three module slots and eight switch/control modules allow
you to customize the 34970A to meet your specific requirements.
Free Software
Saves You Time and Money
BenchLink Datalogger software gives you a familiar Windows¢ç
interface for test configuration and real-time data display and
analysis. Even better, this full-featured data logging application is
included free with every standard 34970A.
Datalogger/Data
Acquisition System In One
In the past, you had to choose between the simple operation and low cost
of a Datalogger or the flexibility and higher performance of a modular
data acquisition system. The 34970A gives you the best of both: a simple
user interface with low per-channel cost, modular construction and
impressive measurement performance.
Log Up To 120
Channels
Configured with a 20-channel relay multiplexer, the 34970A is a
powerful, low-cost datalogger that's quick to set up and easy to run.
It's perfect for a multitude of data logging and monitoring
applications, either stand-alone or with a computer. Its modular design
makes it scaleable from 20 to 120 channels, and lets you add actuator,
digital I/O and analog output channels for simple control. Its rugged
features make it perfect for portable applications, and its small
footprint makes it ideal for cramped benchtop testing. Standard HP-IB
(IEEE 488) and RS-232 interfaces let you program the instrument for
automated tests.
The 34970A measures and converts 11 different input signals: temperature
with thermocouples, RTDs, and thermistors; DC/AC volts; 2- and 4-wire
resistance; frequency and period; DC/AC current.
Alarms are available on a per-channel basis as well. Enter a high limit,
a low limit, or both. You can assign one of four TTL alarm outputs to
any input channel to trigger external alarm lights, sirens, or send a
TTL pulse to your control system, without a PC connected.
A special display mode monitors a selected input channel, continuously
updating the display with new readingsóeven during a scan. Itís
great for checking a key input, or for troubleshooting your system
before a test.
All readings are automatically time-stamped and stored in a non-volatile
50,000-reading memory, enough to hold more than a weekís worth of
data. The memory holds your data even after power is removed, so you can
use the 34970A to collect data at a remote location for later uploading
to a PC. And because system configuration is stored in memory, if you
lose power in the middle of a test, the unit resumes scanning when power
is returned.
The internal 6 1/2 -digit DMM adds the performance of a world-class,
stand-alone DMM to the 34970A, but at a fraction of the cost and in a
fraction of the space. It¡¯s as accurate as the best bench DMM
available: 0.004% basic DCV accuracy, 0.06% basic accuracy, and 0.01%
basic resistance accuracy. Patented technology offers outstanding
linearity along with 22 bits of real resolution. And since it is an
integrating A/D, it provides excellent noise rejection as well. If you
need high scan rates, the 34970A is capable of delivering fully
converted measurements directly to HP-IB to RS-232 at speeds of up to
250 ch/s. The input section of the DMM is optically isolated and
shielded from the 34970Aís earth-referenced circuitry and
computer interface, offering up to 300V or input isolation.
The internal DMM lets you measure 11 types of inputs easily and
inexpensively. Built-in signal conditioning and conversion routines turn
raw inputs directly into real information.
