The Type 1 Laser Vibrometer is
a very short range optical radar capable of measuring sub-millimeter
displacements from DC to kilohertz rates. The electronics can be remotely
located so the unit's optical system can be placed in a hostile environment.
Transmitted and reflected light are conveyed to and from the electronic package
via fiber optic cable.
The unit is powered from an external DC source ranging from 9 - 25 volts with
a current capablility of 0.7 amps. The output of the unit is an analog signal
proportional to the target's distance from the optical system. The vibrometer is
calibrated to a value of 1 volt per inch of displacement. Maximum displacement
range is approximately 3 inches and is dependent on the target's reflective
properties. Custom displacement ranges - CALL
The laser wavelength employed by the unit is 660 nm(visible
reddish orange). The use of visible light aids the user in targeting the
optical system onto the measurement point of interest.
