The Model 14L RF electronic level switch, housed in a cast aluminum explosion-proof enclosure,
The Model 14L RF electronic level switch, housed in a cast aluminum explosion-proof enclosure, is ideal for alarm and/or control of conductive and non-conductive liquids, granular materials, foams, slurries, and interface applications. An adjustable 0-20 second relay delay time, together with normal or fail-safe operating modes, provides versatile control function configuration for your application requirements. Differential (cyclic) control enables two setpoints to be established on the sensor. The relay state changes when the level reaches the second setpoint and remains in this state until the level falls below the first setpoint. This system can control any media that has a dielectric constant between .5 and 80.0 (light hydrocarbons, plastic pellets to water, acids, and slurries).

The sensor is energized with a radio frequency signal. As the media level changes, the capacitance of the sensor changes, resulting in a change in radio frequency signal. This frequency change is compared with a preset value stored in the measuring circuit and used to actuate a relay for alarm and/or control. The design of the Model 14L contains an innovative shield driver circuit, enabling it to ignore the effect of conductive material coatings.

Typically, the sensor is integrally mounted to the Model 14L housing. The sensor can also be remotely mounted for applications with high temperature and/or high vibration. The sensors are manufactured in a variety of metals and insulating materials. The active measurement length of the sensor varies depending on the application requirements. The sensor may be mounted in a vertical or horizontal position. Normally, the sensor is threaded into a process vessel with a 3/4-inch NPT connection

Common Measured Process Materials
  • Conductive Liquids: Water, acid, caustic, etc.
  • Organic Solvents: Ethylene, methyl or isopropyl alcohol, toluene, heptane, turpentine, acetone, etc.
  • Hydrocarbons: Crude or refined oil, kerosene, ethylene glycol, gasoline, etc.
  • Interface Liquids: Hydrocarbons and water
  • Bulk Solids
Features
  • Versatile - Can be used for level alarm and/or control of conductive and non-conductive liquids, granular materials, foams, pastes, slurries, and interface applications
  • Eliminates False Level Detection - The innovative shield driver circuitry enables the system to ignore the effects of conductive material buildup on the level sensor surface.
  • Flexible Relay Setup - An adjustable 0-20 second relay delay time, together with normal or fail-safe operating modes, provides versatile control function configuration.
  • Differential (Cyclic) Control - Differential control enables two setpoints to be established on the sensor
  • Push-to-test Verification - High level (overflow) alarm operation can be verified without actually filling the vessel.
  • Remote Mounting Capability - The sensor can be remotely mounted for applications with high temperature and/or high vibration
  • Wide Range of Applications - This system can control any media that has a dielectric constant between 1.5 and 80.0
  • Multiple Power Supplies - The Model 14L will operate on various power inputs from 115 VAC or 230 VAC (50/60 Hz) to 12 VDC or 24 VDC.
  • Rugged - Solid state electronics housed in a cast aluminum explosion-proof enclosure.
